+2 COURSE (FIRST YEAR)

Theory Paper – I (Applied Theory)

Unit – I
Shastriya Parichaya (Characteristic Features) of all the prescribed Raagas of this year such as: Bhupali, Durga, Khamaj, Kafi, Vrundabani Saranga, Kalyan, Alheiya Bilawal and Desh.
Unit – II
Shastriya Parichaya (Characteristic Feature) of all the Prescribed Taalas. Such as: Teertaal, Ektaal, Jhamptaal, Chautaal, Dhamaar, Dadra and Kaharwa.
Unit – III
Knowledge of writing notation of all the prescribed Taals taught during this year.
Unit – IV
General knowledge of the following form-
    a) Dhrupad
    b) Dhamaar
    c) Khayal
    d) Sargam
    e) Geet
    f) Lakhyana Geet

Theory Paper – II (General Theory)

Unit – I
Simple Definition-
Sangeet, Dhwani, Nada, Sruti, Swar, Saptak, Alankar, Aroh, Abaroh, Vadi, Sambadi, Anubadi, Vivadi, Bariya, Jati, Thhat, Raaga, Alaap, Taan, Pakad, Boltaan, Sthayee, Antara, Taala, Laya, Matra, Bibhaga, Abartan, San, Tali & Khali.
Unit – II
Elementary Knowledge about Pandit Bhatkhande and Pandit Paluskar’s notation system.
Unit – III
    a) Physical Descriptions and Tuning System of Tanpura.
    b) Comparative study of the following
        a. Raaga and Thaat
        b. Swara and Sruti
        c. Tala and Laya
Unit – IV
Writing Essay on General Topics of Music
    a) Classical Music and Light Music.
    b) Role of Taala and Laya in Music.
Unit – V
Live Sketch
    a) Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar.
    b) Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande.

+2 COURSE (FIRST YEAR)

Practical Paper – I & II

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily,
    1. Raga Bhupali, Durga, Khamaj, Kafi, Brundabani Saranga, Kalyan, Ashabari, Bhairav, Alheiya Bilawal, and Desh.
    2. Elementary Knowledge of the Vilambit Khayals of the following Raagas: Bhupali, Kalyan, Alheiya Bilawal, and Bhairav.
    3. Drut Khayals of the following Raagas with Nibadha Alaap, Taan and Boltaan etc.
    4. The students will be taught one Dhrupad and one Dhamaar based on any two Raagas.
    5. The students will be taught one Lakhyan Geet and one Sargam Geet based on any prescribed Raagas.
    6. Knowledge of three Bhajans including “Jaya Jagdish Hare” of Pt. B. D. Paluskar.
    7. Knowledge about the following Taalas : Teentaal, Ektaal, Jhamptaal, Chautaal, Dhamaar, Dadra and Kaharwa.
    8. The students will be taught Theka, Tali, and Khali in each of the above prescribed Taalas with Dugun Layakari.
    9. Identification of Raagas, Taalas and notes (Suddha and Vikrut).
    10. The students will be taught different types of Alankar.

+2 COURSE (SECOND YEAR)

Classes Required – Per unit – 20 Classes per Year

Theory Paper – I (Applied Theory)

Unit – I 
    a) Shastriya Parichaya (Characteristic Features) of all the prescribed Raagas of this year such as: Bageshree, Bihag, Kedar, Hameer, Bhim Palasi, Tilak Kamod, Gauda Saranga, Shansara, Pattadeep and Bhairavi.
    b) Comparative Study of the prescribed Raagas of this year and the previous year. Previous years Raagas being: Bhupali, Durga, Khamaj, Kafi, Vrundabani Saranga, Kalyan, Alheiya Bilawal, and Desh.
Unit – II 
    a) Shastriya Parichaya (Characteristic Features) of all the prescribed Taalas such as Vilambit Ektaal, Tilwada, Jhumra, Sultaal, Tewora, and Rupak.
    b) Comparative Study of the prescribed Taalas of this year and the previous year. Previous years Taalas being: Teentaal, Ektaal, Jhamptaal, Chautaal, Dhamaar, Dadra and Kaharwa.
Unit – III 
Knowledge of writing of Layakaris such as: Ekgun, Dugun, Tigun and Chaugun of the prescribed Taalas.
Unit – IV
Knowledge of writing notations of all forms taught during this year.
Unit – V 
General knowledge of the following forms: Dhrupad, Dhamaar, Khayal, Tarana, and Bhajan.

Classes Required – Per unit – 20 Classes per Year

Theory Paper – II (General Theory)

Unit – I
Definitions : Gram, Moorchhana, Jati Gayan, Graha, Amsa, Nyasa, Apanyasa, Sanyas, Binyas, Varna, Layakari, Meend, Kana and Gamak, Khatka, Murki, Ashraya Raaga, Janya Raaga and Janak Thhat.
Unit – II
Comparative Study of the following:
    a) Alpatwa – Bahutwa
    b) Abirbhawa – Tirobhawa
    c) Purbanga – Uttaranga
    d) Physical description of Dugi and Tabla.
Unit – III
Essays on General topics of Music.
    a) Importance of music in the society.
    b) A classical music evening.
Unit – IV
Life Sketch – Pandit Omkarnath Thakur, Pandit Vinayak Rao Patwardhan.
Unit – V
Comparative studies about Pandit Bhatkhande and Paluskar’s notation system.

Practical Paper – I & II

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily

    1. Raagas: Bageshree, Bihag, Kedar, Hameer, Bhimpalasi, Tilak Kamod, Gauda Saranga, Shankara, Pattadeep, and Bhairavi.
    2. Vilambit Khayal (Badakhayal) of the following Raagas: Bageshree, Bihag, Kedar, Hameer, and Bhimpalasi.
    3. Brut Khayal (Chhota Khayal) of the following Raagas: Tilak Kamod, Gauda Saranga, Shankara, Pattadeep and Bhairavi.
    4. Knowledge of one Dhrupad and one Dhaamar with Dugun, Tigun, and Chaugun Layakaris out of the prescribed Raagas of the year.
    5. Knowledge of two Taranas from the prescribed Raagas.
    6. Knowledge of two Bhajans based on Raagas.
    7. Knowledge of the following Taalas: Vilambit Ektaal, Tilwada, Jhumra, Sultaal, Tewora, and Rupak.
    8. Knowledge of Dugun, Tigun, and Chaugun Layakaris in the prescribed Taalas.
    9. Elementary knowledge of the tuning process of Tanpura.
    10. Identification and Comparative study of the prescribed Raagas of the year and previous year. (Previous Raagas: Bhupali, Durga, Khamaj, Kafi, Vrundabani Saranga, Kalyan, Ashavari, Bhairav, Alheiya Bilawal and Desh.
    11. Identification and Comparative study of the prescribed Taalas of the year and previous year. (Previous Taalas: Teentaal, Ektaal, Jhamptaal, Chautaal, Dhamaar, Dadra and Kaharwa).
