Theory Paper – I (Applied Theory)

Unit – I
    1. Different types of Foot Positions (Pada Sthhiti).
    2. Knowledge of Pada, Beda (Mandala, Utpalabana, Bhramari, Pada Charika).
    3. Knowledge of Bhangi.
Unit – II
    1. Explore the knowledge of Sira Veda, Greeba Veda, Drusti Veda.
    2. Explore the knowledge of Sanjukta, Asanjukta and Nrutta Hasta Mudra.
Unit – III
    1. Shastriya Parichay of the prescribed Taalas.
        1.1 Ektali
        1.2 Rupak
        1.3 Triputa
        1.4 Jhampa
        1.5 Khemata (Jhula)
        1.6 Jati Taal
    2. Knowledge of simple Layakaris.
        2.1 Eka Guna
        2.2 Dui Guna
        2.3 Chari Guna
    3. Knowledge of Khandi, Gadi, Arasa and Mana.
Unit – IV
    1. Understand the deep meaning of Taala, Laya, Bhaga, Tali, Khali, Tandav, Lasya, Mudra, Abhinaya, Natya, Nrutya, Nrutta.
    2. Knowledge about Namaskriya, Patra Lakhyana, Barjaniya Patrini, Natya Utpati, Puspanjali, Natya Karma (According to Abhinaya Darpana).

Theory Paper – II (General Theory)

Unit – I
    1. Anga Veda (Anga, Pratyanga, Upanga).
    2. (According to Abhinaya Darpana).
    3. Brief History of Odissi Dance.
    4. Brief History of Devadasi, Mahari and Gotipua.
Unit – II
    1. Knowledge of Abhinaya (Angika, Bachika, Aharjya, Satwika).
    2. Knowledge of Bhaba and Rasa.
Unit – III
    1. Knowledge of following folk dances of Odisha.
        1.1 Chadheya Chadheyani
        1.2 Rasarkeli
        1.3 Dalkhai
        1.4 Ghumura
        1.5 Kela Keluni
    2. Knowledge of all Classical Dances of India.
Unit – IV
    1. Life Sketch of traditional dance Gurus – Lt. Mohan Mahapatra, Chandrashekhar Pattnaik, Mani Mahapatra.
    2. Life sketch of Shri Jaydev, Upendra Bhanja, Kabi Surya Baladev Rath, Gopal Krushna, Banamali.

+2 COURSE (FIRST YEAR)

Practical Paper – I

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily,
    1. Demonstration of Sanjukta and Asanjukta Hastas and usages.
    2. Demonstration of Sirabheda, Greeba Veda, Drushti Veda and usage (Biniyoga).
    3. Knowledge of Bhangis and their Asana, Mardala, Akunchana, Uttolika, Shivakara, Nivedana, Potola, Biraja, Parswamardala, Sala Bhanjika, Gabakhya.
    4. Demonstration of Pada Veda – Mandala, Chari, Bhramari, Utplabana.
    5. Exercises and stepping (Pada Sadhana) for Anga Suddha.
    6. Practice of Bakhya Chalana (Chest Movements).

Practical Paper – II

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily
    1. Performance of Mangala Charana – One.
    2. Sthhayee of Batu Nrutya.
    3. Pallavi – One.
    4. Abhinaya – One.
    5. Tala – putting beat with Ekgun, Dugun, Chargun.
    6. Simple demonstration of Nava Rasas.

+2 COURSE (SECOND YEAR)

Theory Paper – I (Applied Theory)

Unit – I (25 Classes per year).
    1. Natya Utpati according to Abhinaya Darpan.
    2. Definition of the Bolly – Utha, Baitha, Thia, Chali, Buda, Bhasa, Bhaunrri, Paali.
    3. Describe all Bibhag of Odissi Dance like Mangalacharan, Sthayee or Batu, Pallavi, Abhinaya and Mokshya Nrutya.
    4. Recitation of the Ukuts of the items.
Unit – II (25 Classes per year).
    1. Identification of the Raaga and Taala of the composed item.
    2. Definition of the various division of the Mangala Charan like – Mancha Prabesh, Bhoomi Pranam, Guru Vandana, Sabha Pranam.
Unit – III (25 Classes per year).
    1. Definition of the Sapta Taala like Dhruva, Matha, Rupak, Jhampa, Tripata, Ektali, Athatali.
    2. Tala Lipi of the various Odissi items.
Unit – IV (25 Classes per year).
    1. Knowledge of Gati Veda according to Abhinaya Darpana and their uses (Hansi, Mayuri, Manavi, etc.)
    2. Knowledge of three types of Folk Dances of Odisha.

Theory Paper – II (General Theory)

Unit – I (25 Classes per year).
    1. Write about Sanskar Paddhati according to Abhinaya Darpana and its relevance with Abhinaya.
    2. What is the importance of rhythm in dance.
    3. Definition of various instruments used in Odissi Dance.
Unit – II (25 Classes per year).
    1. Introduction of various types of instruments of India like Tatvadya, Susurvadya, Nibaddhavadya and Ghanavadya.
    2. What is the importance of Music in Odissi Dance.
Unit – III (25 Classes per year).
    1. Knowledge of some Mythological Story like the birth of Lord Ganesh, the fight between Durga and Mahisasura and about Shiv Natraj and his dance.
    2. Knowledge of some folk and traditional dance of Odisha (Pala, Daskathiya, Prahlad Natak, Dhuduki, Naga Dance, Sahi Jatra).
Unit – IV (25 Classes per year).
    1. Detail knowledge of different books on dance like Abhinaya Darpan, Natya, Shastra, Natya Manorama.
    2. Life sketch of main Gurus of Odissi dance – Lt. Guru Padmashree Pankaj Charan Das.
    3. Late Padma Vibhushan Guru Shree Kelu Charan Mahapatra.
    4. Late Guru Shri Deba Prasad Das.

+2 COURSE (SECOND YEAR)

Practical Paper – I

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily

    1. To teach ten types of soundless exercises of stepping (Ten Nos. of Chauka and Ten Nos. of Tribhanga).
    2. Knowledge of all types of Bhramari.
    3. To teach one Pallavi.
    4. Knowledge of Bhangis and their demonstration Asana, Mardala, Akunchana, Uttolika, Shibakara, Nibedana, Potala, Biraja, Parswa Mardala, Alasa, Darpani, Srutikula.

Practical Paper – II

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily,

    1. Performance (Mangala Charan – One Sloka).
    2. Demonstration of Batu Nrutya.
    3. Identification of Hastas, Padas, and Bhangi of Batu Nrutya.
    4. Recitation of the items the student has learned describing the Ukutas with Taal (Learning to sing the items).
    5. Demonstration of one Pallavi and one Abhinaya.
