+2 COURSE (FIRST YEAR)

Theory Paper – I (Applied Theory)

Unit – I (25 Classes per year)
    1. Study of different parts of Tabla and Bayan.
    2. Comparison between Mardal and Pakhavaj.
Unit – II (25 Classes per year)
    1. Knowledge to produce the following Banis: Te, Dha, Ta, Dhin, and Teen.
    2. Study about both Taala and Lipi.
Unit – III (25 Classes per year)
    1. Ability to write the Taala in Practical Papers with their characteristics.
    2. Knowledge about the importance of Taala in music.
Unit – IV (25 Classes per year)
    1. Definition of the following terms – Bani, Laya, Abartana, Vibhag, and Matra.
    2. Writing of Thhekas in Bhatkhande Taala Lipi Paddhati.

Theory Paper – II (General Theory)

Unit – I (25 Classes per year)
    1. Comparative study about the Classical Taala system of India.
    2. Knowledge about the following terms – Taala, Matra, Thheka, Mukhda Taali, and Khaali.
Unit – II (25 Classes per year)
    1. Study about the Gharanas.
    2. Study of Indian music (Classical, Light Classical, Carnatic, Hindustani Light Music, Instrumental Music).
Unit – III (25 Classes per year)
    1. Study about terms used in Indian Music like – Geet, Raaga, Classical Music, Light Music, and Folk Music.
    2. Knowledge about Laya, Kriya, and Anga.
Unit – IV (25 Classes per year)
    1. Physical description of Tabla and Ayan with drawings.
    2. Good and bad qualities of Tabla students.

+2 COURSE (FIRST YEAR)

Practical Paper – I

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily

    1. Practice of the following basic unit: Ekgun and Dugun.
    2. Practice of the following:
        2.1 Dhete Tete, Tere Kete Tak, Ketetak
        2.2 Dha Dha, Tete, Tata Tete, Tunna, Dhina
        2.3 Tunna Kete Tak, Dhina Ketetak
        2.4 Dhati Ghene Tati Kene

Practical Paper – II

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily,

    1. Practice of the Thheka in – Teentaala, Jhamptaala, Rupak, Dadra, Kaharwa,
    2. Ektaala, and Teora
    3. Kayada, Rela and Tukda in Teentaala.

Theory Paper – I (Applied Theory)

Unit – I (25 Classes per year)
    1. Study of different Baj in Tabla.
    2. Study of Taaladas (Ten) Prana.
Unit – II
(25 Classes per year)
    1. Importance of Tabla in Music.
    2. Study about – Kayada, Tukda, Kholimudi and Tyani.
Unit – III
(25 Classes per year)
    1. Ability to write different Bols with both Taalalipi Paddhatis.
    2. Knowledge about Palat and Vistaar in Kayada.
Unit – IV
(25 Classes per year)
    1. Writing of Chakradar, Bamdar and Bedamdar Tyahi in Bhatkhande Paddhati.
    2. Writing of Tukda, Kayada and Rela in Jhamptaal and Rupak Taala.

Theory Paper – II (General Theory)

Unit – I (25 Classes per year)
    1. Ability to write the different Bols in Ekgun, Digun and Chaugun.
    2. Knowledge about practice and discipline to learn Tabla.
Unit – II (25 Classes per year)
    1. Knowledge about the following terms – Sam, Fank, Chakradar, Teskar, and Thheka.
    2. Detailed study about Laya and Tyahi.
Unit – III (25 Classes per year)
    1.Study about the life history of the following Tabla players:
        1.1 Kshetra Mohan Kar.
        1.2 Naba Kumar Panda.
        1.3 Utsav Karamatwalla Khan.
        1.4 Kishan Maharaj.
        1.5 Samta Prasad.
Unit – IV (25 Classes per year)
    1.Essay on:
        1.1 Importance of Music in Life.
        1.2 Importance of Guru Shishya Parampara in music

+2 COURSE (SECOND YEAR)

Practical Paper – I

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily

Students will have to prepare two simple Kayadas to play fifteen minutes in any one Taala from the following: Tritaal, Jhamptaal with Kayada, Vistaar, and Palat Tukda, Chakradar in Vilambit, Madhya and Drut.

Practical Paper – II

Classes Required – One Class / Two consecutive periods daily,

    1. Practice of the Thheka in Dadra, Kaharwa, Teora, Dhumali, and Ektaala.
    2. Recitation of different Bols with Ekgun, Digun.
    3. Viva with the terms linked with Tabla.
